I went to the Seward Sea Life Center today. This Center was build after the Exxon Valdez accident 1989 which covered more than 11.000sq miles with a thick layer of oil and many species died.
It is home of many scientists and build to research local ocean life to better understand and nurses injured sea creatures or abandoned cubs. Of course they have many pools with different species to show the visitors what kind of animals call Alaskan waters home and how they live.
The biggest resident was a 1500 pound sea lion swimming close to the underwater window patrolling his territory. But the giant Octopus was the coolest one. He had probably around 5 feet long tentacles, was fire red and extreme relaxed.
Its raining the whole day and being outside isn’t nice. So I spend the rest of the day inside ZERO with the heater running. I checked emails, weather and planned my next route. I’ll leave tomorrow morning towards Prince William Sound. yeah!! Lots of small narrow passages between high mountains, steep cliffs and glaciers..! I am, again, excited!
Aloha
Wow! The sea lab looks awesome. You look as if the weather is cold. The adventure is what attracts you NOT the weather. Enjoy the trip.
