You wanna sail with the tides, here. There can be very strong currents in the little narrow channels here so I don’t want to pass them with the current running against me. That means the time to leave a spot will be dictated by the tides. I could sleep long this morning. I left Fox Farm Bay at 10am. There was still a little current running against me but it was weak and would change soon, but I didn’t want to run into too much current against me later that day so i needed a compromise. There was no wind and even when I tried to use some very gentle breezes with Genua and Mizzen, I had to run the engine the whole time. But it was another sunny day and even better than yesterday because it started already sunny in the morning. The surrounding nature was amazing. All around me green Islands, some higher some flat and in the far north white mountains.
There where quite a couple boats outs here and as closer as I came to Whittier the traffic went up.
Whittier is at the far end of a long Fjord. Surrounded by high rocky mountains with countless waterfalls which feed the bay with cold glacier water and turn the water bright blue grayish.
I tied ZERO to the first dock. There was no wind and my docking maneuver worked perfect. It looked like I never did anything else than docking a 50ft sailing yacht in a small habor on my own.
Tomorrow I go to anchorage. A subscribers contacted me and offered me a ride. He lives in Anchorage and wanted to see ZERO and crew in person.
Live is good!!
