3 beautiful bays in the last 3 days. The first one, I came in after midnight, turned out to be one big gras covered mountain with a huge high plateau. There was not a single tree on this little island and I was damn sure that there wouldn’t be any bears. I slept long but woke up on a sunny dry day which inspired me to climb the top of the mountain and even tried to have a bath in the ocean. I stripped and walked into the ocean. I didn’t came far. It was too cold. My feet were freezing after a few steps already. So I quickly lowered myself and dove down chest high and went out again. The sun was warm and warmed and dried me quick.

The next bay I came in even later. I was looking for an anchorage but couldn’t find a single bay with shallow water. I studied the charts and checked a couple bays but only the third bay had a small shallow area. I’m on the mainland now and the mountains fall steep into the ocean with trees just above the high tide line. It was meant to stay over night, get some rest and keep on going towards Seward the next day. It was sunny again and I was surrounded by steep cliffs, dark green pine-trees and gras covered mountains with white tips. There were so many waterfalls in this bay I couldn’t count and would outnumber any bay I’ve seen on Hawaii. I layed on the sun-warmed deck and listened to some music while I was eating my self-made banana ice-cream. Yummie!

I’m now anchored just in front of bear glacier. Close to Seward. There are 3 other boats here. 2 sailboats and 1 little cabin cruiser. It’s only 15 nm to Seward where I gonna sail to tomorrow. There is a big Salmon festival on 4th of July, what I heard, and I’m going to catch up with some friends from Hawaii..
Aloha
